Anxi Tieguanyin
The cultivar on its own, lightly oxidised and greenly finished, the way Anxi has been making it since the roasting fell out of fashion.
Orchid on the nose, gardenia in the cup, and a sugarcane sweetness at the back that arrives a second after you swallow. Ten infusions is normal.
If you have only ever had scented oolong, start here. It explains what the scenting is working with.
BREWING
Steep 6 g per 100 ml at 95 °C. Rinse, then 15 seconds and up by 5. Use more leaf than feels reasonable and shorter steeps than feels reasonable.
ORIGIN
The same Anxi family garden that supplies our bergamot oolong, but this is the plain version: no citrus, no fruit, nothing between you and the cultivar.
STORAGE
Store in a cool, dry place away from heat, direct sunlight, moisture and strong odours.
