Bergamot Oolong

A bright and aromatic Four Seasons oolong from Nantou, layered with locally grown Buddha’s Hand citrus and natural bergamot oil from France. Fresh citrus and floral notes lift the naturally fragrant tea base, creating a crisp, lively and balanced cup.

This tea is made from Si Ji Chun (Four Seasons), a Taiwanese cultivar known for its naturally fresh and floral character. Grown around Mingjian in Nantou County, the lightly oxidised oolong provides a clean and aromatic base particularly suited to citrus.

Its distinctive fragrance is created through two complementary layers of citrus. Dried pieces of Buddha’s Hand (Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis), grown locally in Yuchi near Sun Moon Lake, are first combined with the tea. The unusual finger-shaped citrus is prized for its highly aromatic peel, bringing a fresh, zesty character rather than the sweetness of citrus juice.

The tea is then scented with natural bergamot essential oil from France. Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) introduces a brighter and more perfumed citrus note, while the floral character of Si Ji Chun remains present underneath.

The resulting infusion is light and refreshing, opening with vivid citrus peel and bergamot before moving into the soft floral notes of the oolong. A gentle citrus bitterness adds definition to the finish, keeping the tea clean and balanced rather than overly sweet.
